Why You Should Always Wear Natural Deodorant
Natural deodorant may seem like an option that only LA hippies would wear, and you may have laughed at jokes of smelly French people (we're not that smelly!) but you should also make the change to natural deodorant as soon as possible.
Switching to natural products should not stop at going to Whole Foods and buying $150 small batch night cream that promises an overnight transformation into a Green Juice Goddess.
What you put under your armpits is so much more important when it comes to your health than that caffeine eye cream made by vegan, fair-trade Norwegian unicorns. It's more important because it is an area where many lymph nodes are close to the surface of the skin. Therefore, anything put there is absorbed faster and more fully than almost anywhere else on your body!
First of all, if you're using antiperspirants, you're doing it wrong. Just stop it right now. Most antiperspirants literally block sweat and that might be the reason you buy them, but guess what:
You Are Supposed To Sweat!!!
Our bodies sweat to regulate temperature and release toxins, which are super crucial for your overall health! Imagine putting something on that would prevent you from peeing. That's crazy!
Antiperspirants are full chemicals that clog up your body's pores and stop the natural release of sweat necessary to cool down the body and release toxins. Antiperspirants work by closing up your pores to prevent perspiration. This means that sweat builds up under the skin.
And guess what?
It might make your perspiration and smell so much worse. The buildup of sweat will come in contact with the buildup of good bacteria that digests sweat, making your body's ability to digest bad bacteria so limited that you will smell worse.
Diseases and Increased Cancer Risk Have Been Linked to Deodorants
Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer have both been linked to harmful chemical compounds found in antiperspirants and deodorants. Some even contain infertility-causing toxic chemicals. Here's a list of some of the worst ingredients you're putting under your armpits:
Aluminum: LInked to Alzheimer’s disease and heavy metal toxicity
Formaldehyde contaminated synthetics: Directly linked to causing cancer
Parabens: Endocrine/hormone disruptors, found in 99% of breast cancer tissue sampled in this study
Propylene glycol: A known skin irritant
Phthalates: Endocrine disruptors linked to permanent birth defects
Triclosan: Linked to liver toxicity and thyroid dysfunction
Formaldehyde contaminated synthetics: Carcinogenic
Fragrance: Cocktail of chemicals creating skin sensitivities and irritations
Sweat Itself Is Not What Smells So Bad
Sweat is water and salt. So what smells like something died? Your body odor is caused by sweat coming in contact with natural bacteria which lives on our skin.
You can balance the bacteria with natural deodorant. No, it won't be an overnight success, but after you detox your body, you will smell less. We tested it out ourselves.
Originally, we intended to publish this in November, although we decided to do an experiment on armpit smelliness after switching to natural deodorant.
So we did.
And something weird happened...some of us have stopped wearing deodorant completely (from being total addicts) and there is zero armpit smelliness. We sniff-tested almost every day. The same deodorant did not work for all of us and you will probably have to test some our before finding the one, but these are our absolute favorites.

Coconut oil, shea butter, and kaolin clay are blended together to help regulate sweat and keep your underarms comfortable. This does do not contain any aluminum compounds, parabens or artificial coloring agents. All natural ingredients! Apply just after the shower, when skin is still slightly damp, for an easier glide.
